Stella Ercoli-Marziali was an Italian-born Canadian supercentenarian.
Stella Ercoli was born in Sant’Elpidio a Mare, Marche, Italy, on 26 September 1904. At some point, she married Luigi Marziali. In 1929, she arrived in Canada to join her husband, who had immigrated there a few years earlier.
Stella was devoted to helping others, deeply committed to prayer, and never missed a day without reading from her Italian prayer books. She had two children, Elsa and Alteo—affectionately known as “Tanner.” In 2004, she celebrated her 100th birthday. Among the many tributes she received were certificates personally signed by Pope John Paul II and Prime Minister Paul Martin.
When asked about the secret to her longevity, she always credited a healthy Mediterranean diet and regular exercise. She walked throughout the city and believed that it was impossible not to stay active while cooking, cleaning, knitting, and crocheting. She also volunteered regularly at her church, which she considered both a source of personal fulfillment and a key to living a happy, healthy life.
Stella Ercoli passed away in London, Ontario, Canada, on 10 March 2015, at the age of 110 years, 165 days.
Her age has not been validated.
