Shige Fukuhara [Japanese: 福原シゲ] was a Japanese supercentenarian who was the oldest living person in Nagasaki Prefecture at the time of her passing.
Shige Fukuhara (福原シゲ) was born in Saikai, Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan, on March 28, 1903.
On March 27, 2013, a celebration was held at her nursing home to honor her longevity on the eve of her 110th birthday. The mayor of Saikai City attended the event and offered his congratulations. Surrounded by her family and delicious food, Fukuhara was reportedly very pleased.
Following the death of 110-year-old Shizu Okabe on August 2, 2013, Fukuhara became the oldest known living person in Nagasaki Prefecture.
Fukuhara passed away of natural causes in Saikai, Nagasaki Prefecture, on August 28, 2013, at the age of 110 years and 153 days.
Her age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group on 30 August 2014 and later recognized by LongeviQuest.
