BIOGRAPHY

Sekie Hasegawa was born in Kani, Gifu Prefecture, Japan, on 2 January 1906. At some point she got married and had ten children.

At the age of 100, she had 30 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Hasegawa passed away of kidney failure in Mitake, Gifu Prefecture, Japan, at 05:53 AM of 16 June 2017, at the age of 111.

RECOGNITION

A few days before her 100th birthday, on December 26, 2005, the mayor of her town visited her home to celebrate her longevity.

Her age was verified by Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare (MHLW), as well as Marco Wikkerink, and validated by LongeviQuest on 14 July 2023.
