Sahae Kawabata (Japanese: 河端 サハヱ) was a Japanese supercentenarian.
Sahae Kawabata was born in Japan on 3 September 1905. She had eight children and, at the time of her passing, was survived by 17 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
She had a deep love for flowers and took great joy in tending her garden, where she grew a variety of plants, including morning glories, lilies, and daffodils. According to her loved ones, Kawabata was known for her kind and gentle nature, and she was deeply cherished by all who knew her.
She passed away in Shikokuchūō City, Ehime Prefecture, on 30 April 2017, at the age of 111 years and 239 days.
At the time of her death, she was the second-oldest person in Ehime Prefecture, after Osugi Sogō of Matsuyama City.
Her age was verified by Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare (MHLW), as well as Marco Wikkerink and Stefan Maglov, and validated by LongeviQuest on 17 July 2025.
