BIOGRAPHY

Rosina Paesan was born in Campagna Lupia, Veneto, Italy, on 14 October 1906. She was born into a peasant family and had three sisters, all of whom she outlived. Though she only attended school until the second grade, she had a deep love for reading, particularly the Bible and the Gospels, as she was very religious.

According to her daughter, she worked in the fields from an early age. When she moved to Codevigo with her family, she would leave for work in the morning and return only in the evening. At 30, Rosina met Antonio Turin, a man from her village, and they married. She had two children, Antonio and Maria. They owned a small piece of land, and she vividly remembered World War II, when German soldiers would steal their chickens as they passed through.

Her life was spent tirelessly working—bent over the land, tending to animals, raising her children, and managing the household alongside her in-laws, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews. In 1973, after Antonio passed away, she moved to Padua, settling in San Carlo with her daughter.

She remained independent until the age of 108, she enjoyed reading, preparing her own coffee with milk and bread—her favorite meal—and walking around the house. When asked about the secret to reaching 110 years old, she simply said: work hard and eat everything.

Rosina Paesan passed away in Padua, Veneto, Italy, on 21 June 2017, at the age of 110 years, 250 days.
