Rosa Barbero was born in Colonia Cavour, Santa Fe Province, Argentina, on 15 November 1911. She was the fifth of eleven siblings and grew up in her hometown, where she later married Alfredo Cammisi, a fieldworker. Together, they had three children: Dorita, Roque, and Matilde. Rosa remained in her hometown until the age of 38. In 1949, the family moved to the city of Esperanza in search of better work opportunities, and it was there that she spent the rest of her life.
In Esperanza, Rosa continued to care for her family while also beginning a professional career. She became one of the first representatives of the Italian Hospital of Santa Fe in the city. At the time, she traveled around in a Ford 8 and was reportedly one of the first women in Esperanza to drive a motor vehicle.
Later, Rosa opened her own business—a large haberdashery shop—which she ran until retirement, eventually passing it on to her grandson. Meanwhile, upon their arrival in Esperanza, her husband Alfredo established a business of his own: the Cammisi and Longoni Soda Shop. Alfredo passed away in 1995.
Rosa Barbero de Cammisi passed away in Esperanza, Santa Fe Province, on 19 August 2022, at the age of 110 years, 277 days.
Her age was verified by Fabrizio Villatoro, and listed as pending validation by the Latin American Supercentenarians (LAS) organization on 15 November 2021.
