Rita Rosaria Lotta was an Italian supercentenarian who was the oldest living person in the region of Apulia. Her age has been validated by the European Supercentenarian Organisation (ESO) and recognised by LongeviQuest.

BIOGRAPHY

Lotta was born in Monteiasi, Apulia, Italy on 17 November 1912. As a child, she never worked in the fields, preferring to sew instead. She enjoyed working as a seamstress, and embroidered many garments.

Lotta never married nor had children, instead assisting her widowed sister in taking care of her nephew.

In her later years, Lotta was reported to be of excellent health. She had a fondness for sweets as a supercentenarian.

RECOGNITION

At the time of her passing, she was the oldest resident of the Italian region of Apulia, and the sixth-oldest in the country.

Lotta’s age was validated by the European Supercentenarian Organisation on 3 June 2024.
