Maria Regina Rotthauwe was a German supercentenarian.
Regina Rotthauwe was born in Schwalbach (then Griesborn), Saarland, Germany, on 31 January 1905. Her nephew stated that she was actually born on 29 January, but her father, Johann, was so overjoyed by her birth that he didn’t register it until 31 January.
She worked for many years in Düsseldorf and later for a tailor in Chester. She met her husband in Hamminkeln, and together they lived in Wesel for a long time before eventually moving to Rees. The couple ran a restaurant for several years at the Wesel railway station. During World War II, she lost her home three times. In the winter months, she often traveled to Mallorca or Italy to escape the cold German weather. Her husband died in 1968.
She moved into the St. Marien Retirement and Nursing Home in her late 80s.
Regina Rotthauwe passed away in Rees-Haldern, North Rhine-Westphalia, on 6 February 2015, at the age of 110 years, 6 days.
Her age was validated by the European Supercentenarian Organisation (ESO) on 23 February 2020.
