BIOGRAPHY

Paula Ludwig was born in Oberhausen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, on 28 November 1910. She spent her youth there and trained as a laboratory assistant. At some point, she moved to Ingolstadt, and later, after marrying a German-American in 1961, she relocated to Munich.

Ludwig remained an active and curious individual, with interests spanning science, art, and culture. She had a particular love for literature and classical music, especially piano compositions. At various times, she also engaged in painting and drawing, activities that helped keep her mind and body active.

Ludwig celebrated her 110th birthday at a nursing home in Munich. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the celebration was intimate and attended by her nephew and his wife.

Paula Ludwig passed away in Munich, Bavaria, Germany, on 14 January 2021 at the age of 110 years, 47 days.
