BIOGRAPHY
Paula Griffith was born in South Glens Falls, New York, USA, on 29 July 1914 to parents Frank Hamilton and Anna LaBarge. Valedictorian of her class and a talented pianist and singer, Griffith began performing for local dignitaries at Grant’s Cottage at a young age and was an active member of the Glens Falls Theatre Company. She went on to earn degrees in teaching and music from Fredonia College in 1935.
She later married Watcyn Griffith and settled in Cambridge, New York, where they raised two children, Vance and Nancy. While in Cambridge, she taught piano lessons and served as choir director and organist at the Cambridge Baptist Church. In her later years, she worked as an assistant in the pathology department at Mary McClellan Hospital in Cambridge until her retirement.
She enjoyed playing the piano, listening to music, sewing, and was a devoted fan of the New York Yankees (baseball team). She especially loved her beagles and cats.
Griffith passed away on 7 May 2026 in Saratoga Springs, New York, USA, at the age of 111 years, 282 days.
