Norio Kawata [Japanese: 川田紀夫] was a Japanese supercentenarian.

BIOGRAPHY

Norio Kawata was born in Toyotabashi, Tokushima City, Tokushima Prefecture, Japan, on April 25, 1892. He raised six children while working as a horticultural instructor. At the age of 104, he suffered a fracture and was subsequently hospitalized.

On May 12, 2003, following the death of Kumekichi Tani of Komatsushima City at the age of 112, Kawata became the oldest living person in Tokushima Prefecture.

He passed away from natural causes in Tokushima City on June 6, 2003, at the age of 111 years and 42 days.

RECOGNITION

His age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group on 22 October 2004.
