BIOGRAPHY

Nora Miller-Welsh was born in Blenheim, Hanover, Jamaica, on 28 March 1914.

At some point, she got married Yulan Welsh, a cane cutter. She operated a shop in Blenheim for decades, known for her cakes and puddings. In her adult life, sometime before Jamaica gained independence in 1962, she became a Christian and initially worshiped at the Dias Seventh-Day Adventist Church. She later became a member of the Blenheim Seventh-Day Adventist Church when it began operations, eventually becoming a head deaconess.

Her passed away in 2019 in his early 90s. She had no children of her own, but she raised her husband’s children. She was known by her relatives as “Miss Nor.”

Since her 90th birthday, her family has celebrated her birthdays annually. Shortly before turning 107, she recovered from Covid-19. As a centenarian, she became bedridden, but at 110, she had no known illnesses other than a toe injury she was nursing at the time.

Miller-Welsh passed away on 6 July 2024, at the claimed age of 110.
