Naomi Frost was born in Bates County, Missouri, USA, on 31 August 1907, to parents Joseph Anderson Borland (1871–1948) and Mary Elizabeth “Molly” Cumpton (1873–1969). She had six siblings: Clyde (1898–1981), Virgil Louie (1900–1973), Olin (1903–1986), Doretta Walker (1911–1997), Floyd Vincent (1913–2002), and Margaret Leslie (1918–1979). She grew up and attended school in the Bates County area. After graduating, she taught in a one-room schoolhouse near Appleton City.
On 14 May 1936, she married Francis Leroy Frost (1905–1997), and together they had two children. Shortly after, Francis and Naomi moved to Springfield, following a job opportunity. Later in life, they returned to Kansas City to be closer to family.
Naomi was a devoted member of Blue Ridge Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed traveling, playing card games with friends—especially pinochle—and embracing life’s simple pleasures, such as canning, sewing, and crafting handmade gifts for her loved ones.
Naomi Frost passed away at St. Luke’s East Hospital in Lee’s Summit, on 11 February 2018, at the age of 110 years, 164 days. She was survived by her son Gene, four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
