Myrtle Clifton was an American supercentenarian who holds the record as the oldest person ever from the U.S. state of Delaware. Her age has been validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG), and recognized by LongeviQuest.

BIOGRAPHY

Myrtle Clifton was born in Greenwood, Delaware, USA, on 19 November 1902. She earned a degree in Accounting from the Wharton School in 1940, attending evening classes. She was employed by the Decker Company in Philadelphia, retired, and relocated to Stonegates in 1984. She never got married.

Myrtle Clifton passed away at Stonegate Nursing Home in Greenville, Delaware, on 12 July 2014, at the age of 111 years, 235 days.

RECOGNITION

In November 2012, she celebrated her 110th birthday, becoming the second documented supercentenarian in the U.S. state of Delaware, following Wally Baker (1898–2009), who was the first.

Clifton’s age was verified by Mark Muir and validated by the GRG on 27 August 2013.

On 17 February 2014, at the age of 111 years, 90 days, she surpassed the final age of Wally Baker, becoming the oldest person to have ever lived in Delaware.
