Muriel Elsie Green was a British supercentenarian. Her age has been validated by the European Supercentenarian Organisation (ESO).
Muriel Green was born in Islington, London, England, on 26 November 1904. She was an only child and moved to Abbots Langley at the age of two, when her father purchased Duck’s Farm. In her twenties, after marrying her first husband, she relocated to Kings Langley, where she spent the rest of her life. She worked as both a ballet teacher and a Sunday school teacher.
Around the age of 104, following a fall at home, she moved into a nursing home. Once there, she remained an active member of the community and enjoyed socialising with other residents as much as possible.
Muriel Green passed away in Kings Langley, on 10 March 2015, at the age of 110 years, 104 days.
Following the passing of 108-year-old Florence Ruth Prince (10 July 1903 – 4 March 2012) of Wheathampstead, she became the oldest known living resident of Hertfordshire. Upon her own passing, she was succeeded by Winifred Elsie Parsell (12 October 1906 – 24 April 2015) of Ware.
Green’s age was verified by Melissa Page and Dr. Andrew Holmes, and validated by the ESO on 30 March 2020.
