Misao Uemura (Japanese: 植村ミサヲ) was a Japanese supercentenarian.

BIOGRAPHY

Misao Uemura was born in Fukushima Prefecture, Japan, on 7 November 1905.

At the age of 108, according to her family, Uemura was not picky about food and would eat almost anything. She was especially fond of sweet potatoes, pumpkins, and all kinds of fruit. Talkative by nature, she often shared stories from her childhood with the staff at her care facility.

When asked about the secret to her good health, Uemura laughed and replied, “There’s no secret—it just happened naturally.”

Misao Uemura passed away in Koka, Shiga Prefecture, around 27 June 2019, at the age of 113.

RECOGNITION

In 2012, she became the oldest living resident of Koka City, Shiga Prefecture.

Her age was verified by the MHLW, Japan, and validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) on 22 January 2018. The validation was later recognized by LongeviQuest.

At the time of her passing, she was the second-oldest living person in Shiga Prefecture, after Mina Kitagawa.
