Minnie Whicker was born in Evansville, Crawford County, Arkansas, USA, on 24 July 1906, to parents Francis and Belle Walker Jenkins. She married Roy Earnest Whicker on 11 June 1927, in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, and devoted her life to being a homemaker. The couple had four children and remained married for 67 years until Roy’s passing on 20 December 1994.
After her husband’s retirement in the 1970s, Whicker relocated to Roseville, California, where she lived for the remainder of her life. By her 112th birthday in July 2018, she had eight grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She voted by absentee ballot in the 2018 U.S. midterm elections, making her one of the oldest known voters at the time.
Minnie Whicker passed away in Roseville, California, USA, on 22 October 2020, at the age of 114 years, 90 days.
On 31 July 2017, following the passing of 111-year-old Mildred Sapp, she became the oldest known living person in the U.S. state of California. Upon her own passing, she was succeeded by Lucy Mirigian.
Her age was validated by the GRG on 29 August 2018.
At the time of her passing, she was the third-oldest living person in the United States, after Hester Ford and Iris Westman.
