BIOGRAPHY

Berry was born in New York City, USA, on 25 May 1909, as the third of nine children. In 1928, she married Leroy Edward Berry, with whom she had three daughters: Dorothy Lunden, Bernice Berry and Carolyn France. She worked in a factory on Park Avenue, making artillery belts, and later as a lab tech in the microbiology department at New York Presbyterian Hospital for 30 years until she retired in her 60s.

In 2015, she moved to the Terence Cardinal Cooke Health Care Center on Fifth Avenue.

Berry passed away in Bronx, New York City, New York State, USA on 22 April 2020 at the age of 110. It has been reported that she died as a result of contracting the COVID-19 virus.
