Mie Ishiguro [Japanese: 石黒ミヱ] was a Japanese supercentenarian whose age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). She was Japan’s oldest person for just over two years, although she was thought to be Japan’s second-oldest person at the time, due to the Kamato Hongo case not yet being debunked.

BIOGRAPHY

Mie Ishiguro was born on 2 June 1888 in Hokkaido, Japan.

Ishiguro was a hairdresser in the city of Yubari in Hokkaido. She spent the last 11 years of her life hospitalized after a leg injury.

She died of pneumonia in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan at the age of 113 years, 73 days.

 

RECOGNITION

At the time of her death, she was the oldest living person in Japan.
