BIOGRAPHY
Maude Harris was born in Fertile, Minnesota, United States, on 15 August 1907, to parents John Alfred Juelson (1878-1946) and Swedish-born Ellen Johnson (1881-1973). She had four younger siblings: Bernice, Harman, Corine and Elaine. Her paternal grandparents were born in Norway.
During the Great Depression, Maude started out working as a teacher in the one-room schoolhouse for grades 1-8.
When Maude visited her uncle in Portland, Oregon, in 1937 she met Guy Royal Harris at a dance. After a six-week whirlwind romance, they married in February 1938 in King County, Washington, and lived near Seattle in a town called Bothell, where Maude became the assistant librarian. They had at least one daughter, Mary Ellen Harris-Gelberg. Twenty years later, they moved to St. Petersburg, Florida, and Maude began working at PK Smith office supplies. She was later hired by Haslam’s Book Store.
At the age of 103, Harris was reported to be quite active, and knitted hats and sweaters for premature babies born at Jackson Memorial Hospital.
Harris passed away on 3 May 2021 in Hialeah, Florida, United States, at the age of 113 years, 261 days.

Her age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group on 17 November 2019, and later recognized by LongeviQuest.
