Marie-Rose (Muzzy) Mueller was a French-born American supercentenarian.
Marie-Rose Mueller was born in the commune of Beaucourt in the Territoire de Belfort department in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté in northeastern France, on 20 September 1896. She was the tenth of eleven children born to Mathias and Marie Schleret. In 1915, she immigrated to America and worked for several years as a governess. During one position, she met Oscar J. Mueller, a Swiss-born man whom she married in June 1924 in New York City. Oscar passed away in 1990.
The couple had three daughters: Monique (born 1927), Evelyn (1929), and Renee (1940). They relocated to Bridgeport in the late 1940s and eventually settled on Scofield Avenue in the Black Rock neighborhood. A devoted wife and mother, she dedicated herself fully to homemaking. She was a skilled seamstress, an exceptional cook, and known for her simple, healthy lifestyle—never drinking or smoking, and walking wherever she went.
Marie-Rose Mueller passed away in Stratford, Connecticut, on 5 November 2007, at the age of 111 years, 46 days. She was survived by her three daughters, six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Her age was validated by the European Supercentenarian Organisation (ESO) on 21 May 2025.
