Marie-Reine Sylvestre was born as Marie-Reine Cécilia-Joseph on 6 September 1907, in Le François, Martinique, France. At some point in her life, she married a man with the surname Sylvestre and later emigrated to mainland France, settling in the commune of Les Ulis, near Paris.
