BIOGRAPHY

Marie Lichet was born in the commune of Chaintré in the Saône-et-Loire department in the region of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté in eastern France, on 25 November 1906. Marie left school at 13 to help her mother before dedicating her life to working in the vineyards. During World War II, her husband was taken as a prisoner.

At the age of 108, she moved in with her son Louis and her daughter-in-law Marie-Claude. Until then, she had lived alone, with daily visits from her son. According to him, she always led a simple life but worked hard, especially in the vineyards.

She was hospitalized for 17 days at the Mâcon Hospital Center before passing away on 19 December 2016, at the age of 110 years, 24 days.

RECOGNITION

Her age was validated by the European Supercentenarian Organisation (ESO) on 6 September 2023. This validation is yet to be recognized by LongeviQuest.
