BIOGRAPHY

Marie Jeannet was born in the commune of Forgès in the Corrèze department, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France, on 14 October 1909. In her youth, she enjoyed dancing. At some point, she relocated to Paris with her father. There, she worked as a housekeeper, cleaning private homes and hotels. She had at least one daughter, Raymonde.

At the age of 105, she experienced a fall. At 106, her nursing assistant described her as a lively woman with a strong character, noting that she always knew what she wanted and wasn’t afraid to speak her mind. When asked about the secret to her longevity, she simply shrugged and said, “I don’t know,” before adding with a smile, “I didn’t do anything too eccentric. But I ate well in Corrèze and had a good time.”

Marie Jeannet passed away in Morigny-Champigny, Essonne, Île-de-France, on 13 November 2019, at the age of 110 years, 30 days.
