Marie Dorval was born in the commune of Lennon in the Finistère department of Brittany, France, on 5 October 1906. She was the eighth of nine children born to parents Hervé Le Page (born 1858) and Marie Françoise Richou (born 1869). In 1916, her family moved to Kerlan, in Laz, where her parents took over the lease of a farm owned by the Marquis de La Feronnays, located on what is now the Trévarez estate. In 1925, they settled in Châteauneuf-du-Faou.
On 21 May 1930, she married Jean Dorval, and in 1939, they welcomed their son, Henri. On 29 September 1944, the couple moved to Les Fontaines in Châteauneuf, where they ran a farm near the local nursing home—where she would later reside. In 1961, at the age of 55, Marie and Jean Dorval retired. On 1 September 2005, a fire destroyed her home, prompting her to move to the nearby nursing home.
Marie Dorval passed away in the commune of Châteauneuf-du-Faou in the Finistère department of Brittany, on 13 October 2017, at the age of 111 years, 8 days.
Dorval’s age has been validated by the European Supercentenarian Organisation (ESO).
