BIOGRAPHY

Marie Dacier was born in the commune of Coullons in the Loiret department in north-central France, on 20 September 1906. Her parents were Edmond Blondeau (1878–1934) and Edwige Albertine Bouchard (1886–1968). She had an older brother, Edmond Honoré (1905–1990). After graduating, she helped on the family farm until her marriage to Jules Henri Dacier (1903–1980) on 6 November 1927, in Poilly-lez-Gien, where they lived until All Saints’ Day in 1937.

She often remarked that she had always worked—doing laundry by hand, farming, and more. The couple managed a farm in Les Quentins in Coullons, and later in Saint-Florent-le-Jeune, where they continued farming until 1968.

From their union came three children: Robert, Lucienne, and Suzanne. By the age of 110, she also had three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren—the youngest just one year old.

When asked about the secret to her longevity, she credited it to staying active, and drinking and eating natural, wholesome foods.

Marie Dacier passed away in Coullons, on 14 December 2016, at the age of 110 years, 85 days.
