María Mercedes Carrasco is a Chilean supercentenarian whose age has been validated by LongeviQuest.
BIOGRAPHY
María Mercedes Carrasco was born in the city of Lota, Biobío Region, Chile, on 23 May 1915 (claims 15 September 1915).
She studied at the Convent School in the same city, and later helped her mother, Herminia, run her grocery store.
In December 1936, she married Luis Alberto Ceballos Carrasco, and together they had five children, who would give her 16 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. They both continued in the same line of work as merchants. They bought the property that had been the former School of Artisans of Lota, before the Industrial School took over. They lived and worked there at 24 Saavedra Street, establishing a large commercial establishment before the arrival of supermarkets.
She always took care of her own health, was very organized, and had no vices. Her family described her as a very loving and hardworking woman. At 110 years old she was in good health, requiring no medication as she had no medical conditions.
She currently lives in her hometown Lota, in Biobío Region, Chile, with her son and grandchildren.
