BIOGRAPHY

Marguerite Robertson was born as Marguerite Ellen Lucille Heisler in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, Canada on 13 May 1907 to parents Capt. David Heisler and his second wife Charlotte Herman. Her father raced on the Bluenose, the famous fishing and racing gaff rig schooner featured on the Canadian 10-cent coin. She had three older halfsisters, Hilda Crouse, Mary Burleigh, and Mabel Zwicker.

Robertson graduated from Mount Allison Ladies’ College in Sackville, New Brunswick, before moving to Vancouver where she worked until her marriage to Dr. John G. Robertson. The couple had three children, John Jr., Janet, and Bonnie. In 1940, the family moved to New Westminster, British Columbia, where John joined the Rotary Club and Marguerite joined the Rotary Anns.

Marguerite Robertson passed away in New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada, on 31 August 2018 at the age of 111 years, 110 days.

RECOGNITION

At the time of death, she was the second-oldest (known) living person in British Columbia, Canada, after Mary Roberts.
