BIOGRAPHY

Cooper was born as Eva Marguerite White in Aliceville, Alabama, on 29 January 1910 as one of eight children born to George Bryant White and Eunice G. White.

After moving to Jackson, Mississippi in 1929, she worked with the Mississippi State Department of Education for seven years. She retired after over a thirty-year career as secretary to the Superintendent of Schools and Board of Education of Jackson Public Schools.

At some point, she married Shelby Cooper, with whom she had a son, Dr. Kit Cooper.

Cooper passed away in Shreveport, Louisiana, USA, on 5 February 2021, at the age of 111. She was survived by her son, three grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

RECOGNITION

At the time of death, she was the oldest living woman in the U.S. state of Louisiana, and the third-oldest living person in the state, behind Lawrence Brooks and Philip Sharp.
