Marguerite Louise Conrad was a French supercentenarian. Her age has been validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) and the European Supercentenarian Organisation (ESO).
BIOGRAPHY
Marguerite Conrad was born in Paris, France, on 15 March 1902. Her father, who was of Swiss origin, served as a soldier during World War I, fighting for France for four years.
On 15 September 1921, in the 3rd arrondissement of Paris, she married Paul Georges Jules Munery (1899–1942). The couple divorced on 5 January 1938. They had a daughter, Odette Albertine (1919–2014).
Marguerite continued working until she was 76. She served home-cooked meals at a bar-restaurant near the Ministry of the Interior. Marguerite lived in Paris all her life before eventually moving to Boulogne-Billancourt. She remained in her apartment in the 15th arrondissement until the age of 101, although she did have a housekeeper. She never smoked. Every day, she climbed two flights of stairs on her own to reach her apartment, as the building did not have an elevator.
Marguerite Conrad passed away in Boulogne-Billancourt, France, on 26 January 2014, at the age of 111 years, 317 days.
RECOGNITION
Conrad’s age was verified by Martin Miet (GRG) and Cyril Depoudent (ESO), and was validated by each organisation on 10 April 2013 and 5 March 2023 respectively.
