BIOGRAPHY

Carossio was born in Mombaruzzo, Piedmont, Italy, on 10 August 1905. She immigrated with her family to Argentina when she was 3 years old, arriving on the ship Rey Victorio. The family settled in San Martín.

At some point, she married Eduardo Monti, also an Italian who arrived in Argentina at the age of 26 after fighting in the First World War. The family settled in Mar del Plata and went on to have two children: Nélida and Roberto.

At the age of 109, she had four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. At that time, she still tended to her plants and garden, ironed every day, washed dishes, and spent her free hours watching television, especially documentaries about animals. Apart from some hearing issues, she was in perfect health.

Carossio passed away in Mar del Plata, Buenos Aires, Argentina, on 30 June 2017, at the age of 111 years, 324 days.
