BIOGRAPHY

Michaels was born in Zane Township, Logan County, Ohio, USA, on 20 November 1901, to parents Frank A. Jordan (1871–1952) and Gertrude Rebecca Ballinger (1873–1951). She had an older sister, Esther Grace Coffey (1895–1975). She graduated from North Lewisburg High School in 1920 and went on to attend Ohio Wesleyan University, where she majored in piano performance. Following her studies, she worked at the Champaign County Courthouse, eventually rising to the role of Deputy Clerk of Courts.

At some point, she married Walter Brooks Michaels (1895–1982). The couple had a daughter.

Michaels passed away at Hearth & Home of Urbana, Champaign County, Ohio, USA, on 16 March 2012, at the age of 110 years, 117 days. She was survived by her daughter, three grandsons, and five great-grandchildren.
