BIOGRAPHY

Froehlich was born as Louisa Juliane Wilhelmine Frank in Washington, Wisconsin, on 18 September 1864. She was the daughter of Prussian immigrants Johann and Wilhelmine Frank. She married Ernest Froehlich on 25 April 1901, and the couple had two daughters. Both children died in infancy.

Froehlich was widowed in 1932, and started receiving Social Security payments in 1943, reportedly donating the money to various charities. She died in Milwaukee, Wisconsin’s capital city, on 16 April 1975 at the age of 110 years, 210 days.

RECOGNITION

In September 1974, Froehlich became the second documented supercentenarian in the U. S. state of Wisconsin, only after the very first known supercentenarian in the United States, Louisa Thiers (1814 – 1926), and the first known supercentenarian to have been born in Wisconsin.

Froehlich was the oldest living person in Wisconsin for an unknown amount of time. Her age was posthumously validated by LongeviQuest in October 2023.
