Germaine “Lilly” Baron (née Labarthe) was a French supercentenarian who was one of the oldest residents of Paris upon her death. Her age has been validated by the European Supercentenarian Organisation (ESO).

BIOGRAPHY

Baron was born as Germaine Labarthe in Paris on 26 May 1905. She was known as Lilly. Her parents were Emile Jean Baptiste Labarthe (1873–1958) and Marie-Eugénie Richardot (1872–1967). In 1939, she married Jean-Jacques Baron (1909–1999), and they had four children: Gérard, Michel, Marc, and Eliane.

Baron died on 14 January 2016 in Paris XV (15th arrondissement) at the age of 110 years, 233 days. She was survived by an unreported number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

RECOGNITION

Baron was never reported in the media while she was living, only a short obituary was published after her death.

Baron’s age was verified by Antoine Demarais, Cyril Depoudent, Guillaume Legris, and Les Grands Centenaires Français, and was validated by the ESO on 23 February 2020.
