BIOGRAPHY

Cardullo was born in Providence, Rhode Island, USA, on 20 May 1903, to parents Paolo Giorgianni (1870–1968) and Grazia Effimano (1875–1946). She had five siblings: Joseph, Anthony, John, Josephine and Mary Paolantonio (1911–2001). She left school in the seventh grade to help support her family and worked at the Monet Jewelry Co.

In 1928, she married Peter Cardullo, and the couple had six children. She was widowed in 1961 and lived alone in Providence until the age of 104, when she moved to Golden Crest Nursing Center. She suffered a stroke in 2007.

Cardullo passed away at Golden Crest Nursing Home in North Providence, Rhode Island, USA, on 10 March 2014, at the age of 110 years, 294 days. She was survived by her sons Peter and Robert, four grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

RECOGNITION

At the time of her passing, she was the oldest living person in the U.S. state of Rhode Island. Upon her passing, she was succeeded by Louise Silva, who was less than three weeks younger.
