Anasthasie Léone Béziat (née Méri-Nicolo) was a French supercentenarian from the overseas department of Guadeloupe.

BIOGRAPHY

Léone Béziat was born in Guadeloupe, on 2 May 1911.

Her older sister, Irena Martial (28 June 1909 – 29 June 2022), lived to the age of 113 years, 1 day. In May 2021, when Béziat celebrated her 110th birthday, the two sisters became the first documented pair of living supercentenarian siblings. They were also the third known pair of supercentenarian sisters, following Nelle Eby and Katharine Davenport from the USA, and Kame Ganeko and Kikue Taira from Japan.

With a combined age of 223 years and 104 days, she and her sister were the second-oldest pair of siblings in recorded history at the time of her sister Irena’s passing in June 2022. They were only surpassed by Ganeko and Taira from Japan, who had a combined age of 226 years and 225 days at the time of Irena’s death.

RECOGNITION

Her age has not been validated.
