Léa Juliette Revault (née Poincloux) was a French supercentenarian who was the second-oldest living person in the region of Centre-Val de Loire. Her age has been validated by the European Supercentenarian Organisation (ESO), and recognised by LongeviQuest.

BIOGRAPHY

Revault was born as Léa Juliette Poincloux in Engenville, located in the French department of Loiret, Centre-Val de Loire. Her parents were Désiré Adelmard Poincloux (1857–1933) and Louise Eléonore Appoline Chaline (1863–1940). She grew up in this small village, receiving her school certificate aged 14, before her marriage to Robert Ernest Revault on 28 August 1926, having met him at a New Year’s Eve ball in 1923.

Revault worked as a bakery manager while raising her three daughters, Renée, André, and Annie. She and her husband operated two bakeries in Seine-et-Marne, as well as one in the 11th arrondissement of Paris, which she ran until her retirement in 1962. She was reported by her daughters to show interest in a wide variety of topics, including reading, politics, and music.

Revault was widowed around 1969 after 43 years of marriage. In 1998, she moved into a retirement facility in Malesherbes, Loiret department. At the age of 110, she still attended mass every Friday morning. On her 111th birthday, she heartily enjoyed a slice of cake and was gifted bouquets of flowers.

Revault died on 1 March 2015 at the age of 111 years, 206 days. She was survived by her three daughters, as well as four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

RECOGNITION

At the time of her death, Revault was Centre-Val de Loire’s second-oldest known resident after Olympe Amaury (1901 – 2015).

Revault’s age was verified by Laurent Toussaint and Cyril Depoudent of Les Grands Centenaires Français, and was validated by the ESO on 28 March 2020.
