On 31 July 2013, following the death of 111-year-old Maria Dolores Ferreira, she became the oldest (known) living person in Portugal.
In May 2014, she celebrated her 110th birthday, becoming the first (known) supercentenarian in Leiria District. She held the title of the district’s oldest person ever until her final age was surpassed by Benvinda Marques Matias on 10 August 2017.
Upon her passing, she was succeeded as Portugal’s oldest living person by 110-year-old Maria da Conceição.
Her age was verified by Gabriel Lemos and Stefan Maglov, and validated by the ESO on 10 October 2023.
