BIOGRAPHY

Konami Watanabe was born in Japan on 3 September 1910.

In June 2021, she was reported to have been vaccinated against Covid-19. In September 2021, Watanabe celebrated her 111th birthday, and when asked by her family what she would like to eat, she replied: “I want to eat meat.”

Watanabe passed away in Okayama City, Okayama Prefecture, Japan, on 5 November 2021, at the age of 111 years, 63 days.

RECOGNITION

In September 2020, Watanabe celebrated her 110th birthday at a nursing home in Okayama City, but it was not publicly announced until early October.

Around 1 March 2021, following the death of 111-year-old Chiyo Jikihara, she became the oldest living person in Okayama Prefecture.

Following her death, Kashiku Nakamura of Kurashiki City became the oldest living person in Okayama Prefecture.
