BIOGRAPHY

Kiyoko Ishiguro was born in Tokyo on March 4, 1901.

She worked as a midwife from her thirties until around the age of 70. She lived in Hiratsuka City after her retirement.

She fell ill in June 2015, but recovered in two months after eating eel, her favorite food. Another one of her favorite foods was salted Senbei.

According to her daughter, Aiko Harada, her older brother and her older sister also lived to be over 100 years old.

During her final years, she used a breathing tube. Kiyoko Ishiguro died on 5 December 2015 at the age of 114 years, 276 days.

RECOGNITION

She was succeeded as the oldest living person in Kanagawa Prefecture by Chiyo Miyako.
