Kitsuyo Yamamoto (Japanese: 山本キツヨ) was a Japanese supercentenarian who has been the longevity recordholder for Shimane prefecture since 2015. Her age has been validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) and recognised by LongeviQuest (LQ).

BIOGRAPHY

Yamamoto was born in Japan on 12 March 1902. On 4 March 2012, eight days before her 110th birthday, she became the oldest resident of Shimane prefecture after the death of 110-year-old Michino Takenaka.

Yamamoto became Shimane’s oldest person ever on 11 January 2015, when she surpassed the age of Yoki Yonehara. She died on 9 March 2015 in Izumo at the age of 112 years, 362 days.

RECOGNITION

Yamamoto’s age was verified by Anson Davis and Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare (MHLW), and validated by the GRG on 23 April 2013.
