Kinno Tagami was a Japanese supercentenarian who was the oldest living person in Gifu Prefecture at the time of her death.
Kinno Tagami (田上きんの) was born in Gero, Gifu Prefecture, Japan, on January 12, 1892.
She had six children, and was also blessed with 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
At the age of 99, she fractured her leg and afterward spent much of her time lying down, although she continued to live at home with her family. Sunbathing became one of her daily pleasures. She reportedly remained in good health and had a hearty appetite even at the age of 110. Her favorite foods included rolled sushi and sweets such as manju (steamed buns). At the age of 109, she still had a younger sister who was 93 years old.
Her family described her as an “adorable and wonderful grandmother,” and believed that her cheerful and carefree personality was the key to her longevity.
Tagami passed away from natural causes at her home on November 30, 2002, at the age of 110 years and 322 days, surrounded by loved ones. Around 300 people, including relatives and local residents, attended her funeral, reflecting how cherished she was by many.
Her age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group and later recognized by LongeviQuest.
