BIOGRAPHY

Juliette Mervellet was born in Colmar in the Haut-Rhin department, Grand Est, on 12 March 1908. She married Albert Mervellet, a foreman at the Berglas-Kiener textile factory in Colmar. The couple had two daughters: Myriam, who passed away in 2015, and Simone. She was widowed in 1972.

In August 1997, she moved into the nursing home in Colmar. According to her daughter Simone, she never took any medication—at least not before her 100th birthday. However, her health gradually declined in her later years. At 109, she successfully recovered from a severe bout of flu. In her final years, her memory reportedly deteriorated, her eyesight weakened, and her mobility became increasingly limited.

Juliette Mervellet passed away in Colmar, on 28 March 2018, at the age of 110 years, 16 days. At the time of her passing, she was survived by five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

RECOGNITION

Her age was validated by the European Supercentenarian Organisation (ESO) on 16 December 2023. The validation is yet to be recognized by LongeviQuest.
