Juliette Hammond was born in Putnam, Connecticut, USA, on 8 October 1907, to parents Louis Anthony Lamoureux (1881–1976) and Délia Cordélie Dupont (1879–1918). She had two younger brothers: Joseph Adrien “Mickey” Lamoureux (1909–2001) and Francis Louis Lamoureux (1914–2004). After her mother’s passing in 1918, her father remarried and had at least four more children.
In 1930, she married Ernest Edward Hammond (1904–1968). The couple had a daughter, Carol Parrott. She raised her family in West Hartford and worked for many years at the Royal Typewriter Company in Hartford. Following her husband’s death, she moved in with her daughter in the 1970s. She lived in the Pine Meadow section of New Hartford and later in Barkhamsted before relocating to Cherry Brook Health Care Center in Canton in 2012.
A devoted communicant and longtime treasurer at Immaculate Conception Church, she was also an avid gardener who enjoyed baking, cooking, sewing, crocheting, and oil painting in her free time.
Juliette Hammond passed away in Canton, Connecticut, on 20 October 2017, at the age of 110 years, 12 days. She was survived by her daughter, two grandsons, two great-granddaughters, and her younger brother, Jake Lamoureaux.
