Josefa Gort Esquerdo was a Spanish supercentenarian.

BIOGRAPHY

Josefa Gort Esquerdo was born in El Cogul, Catalonia, Spain, on 18 September 1907. When she was very young, her family moved to the town of Almacelles, where she later built a family of her own. She had a brother and two sisters and was the eldest of the three girls. Her brother also lived to be 100. From childhood until she married, she worked extensively in the fields.

On 19 December 1931, at the age of 23, she married Josep, a bricklayer. Shortly after, they welcomed their first child, Ramón. From that moment on, she dedicated herself entirely to her family. In the following years, Llibert, Antonia, and M. Carmen were born. By the time she reached 108, her family had grown to include nine grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Josefa Gort Esquerdo passed away in Almacelles, Catalonia, Spain, on 17 October 2017, at the age of 110 years, 29 days.
