BIOGRAPHY

José Ángel Flores Vallecillo was born in the city of San Pedro Sula, in Cortés, Honduras on 19 August 1914, as the only child born to his parents. After completing his studies, he began working as a driver at the age of 17, before later training to work as a mechanic. His job led to him receiving courses in the United States, where he became certified as a mechanic. According to his family, his father lived to be 99, and died after being hit by a car.

In 1956, he married Evelia Rodriguez, and had four daughters with her. The couple were married for 63 years until Evelia’s death in 2019.

On 19 August 2024, he celebrated his 110th birthday, making him the first (known) male supercentenarian from Honduras.

José Ángel Flores Vallecillo passed away on 7 September 2024 in Taulabé, Comayagua, Honduras, at the age of 110 years, 19 days.
