RECOGNITION

Following the death of Rita Donn on 17 January 1999, Redpath became Scotland’s oldest resident aged 109. Upon her own death, the title passed to Agnes Kinnear (1891 – 2001), then aged 108.

When Sarah Knauss, the world’s oldest person, died on 30 December 1999, Redpath was in contention for the Guinness World Records “Oldest Living Person” title, her niece having informed the organisation about her. The title was eventually given to a fellow Brit, 114-year-old Eva Morris (1885 – 2000).

Redpath’s age was verified by Robert Young (GRG), as well as Dr. Andrew Holmes and Chris Law (ESO), and was validated by the latter organisation on 17 May 2020.

Redpath initially was validated by the GRG with a birth date of 3 March 1889, but research conducted by the ESO concluded that Redpath was four days younger, born on 7 March 1889.
