Iva Pressey was born in the neighborhood of Cramer Hill in the City of Camden, New Jersey, USA, on 31 January 1890. Her parents were Otto C. (1865–1946) and Emma E. Oehler (born 1867). Her father was born in Germany.
In 1910, she married Walter Stanley Pressey (1890–1952). Iva was widowed on 6 April 1952, after which she didn’t remarry. The couple had a son, Walter Stanley Pressey Jr. (1914–1956). She lived her whole life in New Jersey, apart from one year living in Nebraska. She was a life long member of the Episcopal Church.
Pressey spent her last 25 years of life at The Evergreens Retirement Home in Moorestown, Burlington County, New Jersey, USA, where she died on 22 February 2002, at the age of 112 years, 22 days. She was survived by three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
At the time of her passing, she was the second-oldest (known) living person in the U.S. state of New Jersey, after Elena Slough.
