BIOGRAPHY

McKenzie was born in Dayton, Tennessee, USA, on 18 June 1913. She was born into a family of seven boys and three girls. She began working in her mid-teens at a local textile factory, making clothing. She credited her longevity, in part, to walking everywhere during her youth. In 1955, she moved to Santa Monica, California, where she worked in the Douglas Aircraft industry until her retirement in 1976. She became a resident of Brookdale Brea Assisted Living in April 2016.

McKenzie passed away in Fullerton, California, USA, on 22 June 2024, at the age of 111 years, 4 days. She was survived by her son, two grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
