BIOGRAPHY

Ida Frazzon was born in Loreo, Veneto, Italy, on 30 January 1911. She was the daughter of Casimiro, a court steward originally from Loreo, and lost her mother at a young age. The sixth of nine children, she took on household responsibilities to allow her older siblings to work. Marriage wasn’t on her mind, but she eventually met Marino Visentin, a widower with seven children. They married and had three more children together. In the early 1960s, the large family relocated to Caorso.

On her 110th birthday, she was described as a lively and lucid individual. On that occasion, she received well-wishes from Don Jean De Dieu, the parish priest of Muradolo, the hamlet where she lived. At the age of 111, she remained physically healthy and had great-grandchildren. When the weather allowed, she enjoyed taking short afternoon walks, arm in arm with her companion. When asked about the secret to her longevity, she attributed it to having a great deal of patience, especially during difficult times. Reading was also always important to her; she enjoyed many novels and several history books.

Frazzon passed away in Caorso, Emilia-Romagna, Italy, on 26 March 2022, at the age of 111 years, 55 days. She had been previously admitted to the hospital, where she later passed away.

RECOGNITION

Frazzon’s age was verified by Paolo Scarabaggio and validated by the ESO on 6 June 2021.

At the time of her passing, she was the second-oldest known living person in Emilia-Romagna, behind Claudia Baccarini.
